Have you ever returned home after a long journey and felt your whole body relax? Now imagine discovering that "home" was never a place at all. It was always within you.
Coming Home –To me, means coming back to ourselves. Not a physical space, but a state of mind where you can be yourself without any masks that we wear on a day-to-day basis. The masks of a teacher, negotiator, mentor, planner and more.
Home to me is state where I can throw any all the masks and be myself, connect to my innermost self and feel my deepest emotions.

When we decided to start a holistic healing space, we need a name that brought a calming emotion. After going through various dictionaries, texts and posts, we stumbled upon this beautiful word “IKHAYA”.
IKHAYA – A Zulu word for “home”, where love, safety and belonging wrap around the heart like a warm embrace offering peace and comfort.
Somehow this word struck the right chords for us. Both me and Ramya immediately agreed to name our holistic venture “IKHAYA”. Just naming it brought a wave of serenity and peace. It just felt right.
What guided us to create a space “IKHAYA”?
One day Ramya and I, went into a meeting room to discuss vacation plans. A plan that was going on for months, but nothing was getting translated into real life actions.
But something else transpired inside that room. We went to discuss vacation but ended up creating a plan to start a holistic healing space where all the 5 senses could be engaged. A place where anyone can come in a feel at peace. A space where we can feel safe and protected. Only did we realize, what had happened, after reaching home. Once the emotions and the adrenaline had settled, it became clear what we had actually given birth to. It was “IKHAYA Healing 555”.
Looking back, it felt as though something far greater than our own planning was quietly guiding the conversation. That day still feels magical and unreal to us. It was not just a simple guidance but opening of new pathways, resources, and unlocking new skills. True Divine Interplay I must say.
Having said that, the road to Ikhaya was not a smooth one. A lot of the roadblocks were internal rather than external factors. It was more of unlearning than learning. It required us to overcome our own self-limiting beliefs of what we could do and couldn’t. It required us to trust our ability to understand and work with the 5 senses, 5 elements of nature and the 5 faculties of mind.
But Ikhaya also gave a space and direction to connect with our own internal self. We went through a lot of introspection and as a result a realization struck that, your spirit guides, spirit ancestors, universe, spiritual mentors are always looking out for you. Whether you remember them or not. They are always there, watching out for you, protecting you. They make their presence felt every now and then. It is up to us to recognize these signs.
